Music Ministry

Purpose

The CBC mission statement states that "We Exist to Glorify God by bringing Sinners to Christ and Saints to Christ-likeness."  Our values are derived from Acts 2:42 where Luke lists the early church's priorities:

• The Apostles' Teaching (The Word)
• Prayer
• Fellowship
• The Breaking of Bread (Exalting Christ)

We see our music ministry as a central part of "Glorifying God" and "Exalting Christ" as we do the unimaginable--enter into God's very presence and please Him with our songs of praise.

Priorities

We desire that our time of music would not only present an opportunity to "worship Him in spirit and truth" but call for full participation in that effort.  We recognize that true worship is a discipline that requires a sacrifice on our part--time, energy, concentration--which is our reasonable service to Him.  Let it never be said of us that we honor Him with our lips, but our hearts are far from Him.

Practical

We press toward these ideals with Christ centered songs blended from today's choruses and the great hymns of the faith.  We also have special music from a variety of ensembles such as solos, duets, children's choir, men's groups, and a full choir.  Ensemble and choir rehearsals are held during our Wednesday night services.
